What is PCOS ( pco syndrome )


pco syndrome is an important problem on women’s ovaries that prevents eggs to be released. Thİs problem does send a lot of women to gynecologists around the world.


How does PCOS occur

Ovaries in a woman’s body will produce one egge per menstruation cycle that is ready to be fertilized. To produce and develop this egg the folicule liquid is needed. In PCOS a few eggs try to grow up at the same time but they cannot succed. In the end there will be few eggs but none of them can actually grow up enough to get fertilized. With an ultrasound diagnosis these can be found as little calicles or small kists.

But if the non regulated periods continue to occur then patient may need ovary inducing medicine and hormone injections. If there is no result after these treatments the patience will get recommended to use IVF .


Sometimes on ultrasound the eggs can be seen like on the PCOS but the other symptoms might be missing. If this is the case don’t panic and continue your normal life. But even after 1 year of unprotected sex if you are still not getting pregnancy. Then there might be a need to PCOS treatment


What are the recommendations for women with PCOS?

These women should continue their controls with gynecologists after their treatment. There is a chance these patients can get diabetes in the future and there might be some other diseases follow it. So it is recommended to lose their weight to a normal level and they should use medicine to regulate their mensturation cycles.
