Digestive system in babies

Having a baby is one of the most fun experiences for a woman in life. Most mothers enjoy spending time, feeding and hugging their babies. A babies life in birth depends on the mother with every aspect.

Gut development

When the fetus appeared in mother’s womb the 3 layers of the cells grow for the baby and the third layer will create baby’s digestive system. Your baby will start developing the gut at the 5th week of pregnancy.

At the 3rd month of pregnancy the stomach cells will start releasing fluids. The waste from the baby will cross through mothers placenta and that means the baby already started using the digestive system.

Even after birth baby’s digestive system is still under development so you should only feed them with breast milk.

In 6 monthsi baby’s digestive system will get developted and now it can accept food like protein, starch and fat. At this stage you can start giving your baby supplementery foods. The baby will get used to those so it is advised to continue giving breastmilk to your baby.

At early child ages the digestive system will continue to grow. First two years are very critical. At these years the microflora of your baby will be deployed so it will affect your child’s long term immunity system. If the baby can’t develop a healthy digestive system at this age, your baby might have problems on growing and having a good immune system.

After birth your baby’s gut won’t function. But when they suck breastmilk out of your body and the gas in the breastmilk will provide healthy bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacillus. Both good and bad bacteria amounts will increase after the few days following baby’s birth.

While baby grows the microflora of the gut gets a fine balance and this won’t get changed until growing up.  Having a well developed gut flora is crucial for baby’s healt in the future. Babies with bad   ly maintained gut ecosystem are usually facing gas problems from the gut and get allergic reactions when they grow up such as asthma. Babies who got fed by breastmilk are tend to get less of these and less problems on their gastrointestinal, ear and respiratory systems.
